Dear Marc,
A brief note to acknowledge the way in which you and your management team have dealt with this years’ discretionary decision process.
This is a highly significant event for all of us: company leadership, Trustee Directors and of course your pensioners.
Breaking the thirteen-year cycle of zero increases is tremendously important:
· it gives us continued hope for the future
· it is a hugely positive signal from HPE leadership
· it begins the process of healing and restoring members faith, confidence and trust in HPE leadership.
However, we still have much further to travel. The negative impact of past decisions for long-retired members will continue for the remainder of their lives and cannot be forgotten, and, neither can we allow or afford a similar negative cycle in the future.
This positive change is hugely symbolic for us.
We see it as a clear signal that your leadership team are now more strongly aligned with corporate ethics, policy and the “true purposes” of the HP Pension Plan and would like to think it reflects a change in culture and practice for the better going forward.
We see it as the first step on our journey to a better future, our vision and goal of reparation and systemic change that facilitates and enables sustainable discretionary increases over our future lifetimes.
We would of course welcome the opportunity to engage more directly over the coming months as we continue to advocate and seek assurance that company executives and Trustees are developing their collective strategic thinking towards enabling and facilitating sustainable increases in the future.
Finally, we express our appreciation for the decision made by your leadership team, and we of course, continue working towards our vision and goal, in good faith.
Kind Regards,
Alan Evans and the HPPA team

Well said, ballance, and covers the points, in an instructive yet none aggressive way. It also encourages future success by all parties.
