AS A RESULT OF YOUR POLICY, WE FACE A FUTURE OF EVER INCREASING POVERTY AND DEPRIVATION, DESPITE THE COMPANY HAVING A STRONG FINANCIAL POSITION

  1. I think HP’s whole attitude to us is almost criminal. To me they are behaving almost exactly like Robert Maxwell who stole his pensioners money to shore up the share valuation of his failing newspaper empire. We cannot do anything to shore up our revenue in inflationary times and have to make economies and reduce the quality of our lives. There is a cruel and uncaring hand influencing HP and the way they look at us. I have spent my whole life post retirement trying to do the right thing, which was drilled into all of us at DEC. What HP are doing to us is truly sickening when they try to portray that they hold high standards of Corporate Governance.

  2. DIGITAL played a very important part of the IT Story in the UK. HPE ultimately bought the skills of ALL the employees PAST and PRESENT. Without the skills and experiences of the RETIRED STAFF we would not have been so successful – please treat us fairly.

  3. Both myself and my wife Sue Dixon are horrified at the way we are being treated by HP – I worked for Digital for 14 years and achieved a lot of business- fighting IBM in B P in the Barbican and nationally.
We also achieved a first with W H Smith – we set up an X25 in in our Newbury – backed up by a a system in France – we took on the WHSmith staff to run the network /this should have been the start of a new business for Digital – but the opportunity was lost – We both loved working for Digital – and do not understand why our pensions have been allowed to lose value – we have taken on other roles into our 70 s to make ends meet – I hope you can reverse this situation before we leave this mortal world

  4. So disappointed with HP for their lack of appreciation for former employees of Digital and HP. When I think of all the extra hours most of us put in to help the companies success, I feel really let down with HP’s lack of support to our pension, especially in these very difficult times.

  5. When I went onto company pension, 1-Jan-95, my company pension was estimated to be about 125% or more, of the State Pension I might have received at that time but, not old enough. Now, it is only about 40 to 45%……. I am unable to live on this and have been obliged to take Equity from my home.

  6. HP continously monitors its performance against its competitors in terms of market share, turnover, profit, etc. If they are so concerned about how they stack up against their peer group, then surely they must know that they are miles behind the performance of the likes of IBM in terms of looking after their pre-1997 retirees.
A decent annual increase for a small group (less than 3,000) of pre-97 retirees must surely be a drop in the ocean for the massive HP Corporation or would they really not worry about a concerted media campaign highlighting this issue and their appauling treatment of former employees?

    1. Trevor in Digital day increases were always paid on the basis of affordability. They gave increases every year except one year they missed because the business performance was shit. They did make up half the pensions loss that year in the next year. HPE go to great pains they review the situation each year but not tell the basis of the decision except to say there are many factors.
