If you are a current or future pensioner, with pre 1997 contributions to the Digital scheme PLEASE READ ON. You should know that the company legally have a choice about paying increases. In the last 20 years inflation has been 70% and the company have only agreed to pay increases twice, totalling 5%.
The HPPA group (hppa.org.uk) was set up and have worked tirelessly on our behalf, but HP sticks to their line that they do what is legally required by scheme rules.
THIS IS TRUE BUT IS IT FAIR
After many years of effort and no change of heart from HP Management, the Steering Group have decided we need to raise the public profile of the hardship that affects many of us. In our research we have heard some desperately sad stories of people who worked for Digital for many years who are now in great financial difficulties due to inflation.
On to the important ask:
We will be protesting outside HP HQ in Winnersh on 20th September. We are working on getting press coverage, and letting MPs know what we are doing and why.
Please join us and make enough noise to change HP’s stance.
We desperately need more feet on the ground on the day. We need to have 100 people there to make a big impact. We had 60 volunteers last time I checked, so need at least another 40 or 50 to allow for drop outs on the day.
